Beautiful diyas and other striking items made of clay were showcased in the exhibition ‘Mruttika’, inaugurated at the exhibition ground in Bhubaneswar.
Different types of diyas are on sale in 90 stalls at the ground ahead of Diwali. More than 180 artisans from Keonjhar, Jajpur, Balasore, Subarnapur, Baragada, Rayagada, Khurdha, Nayagad, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Nabarangpur, Sambalpur, Balangir, Kendrapada, Puri, Sundargad, Malkangiri and Koraput have displayed their works in the exhibition.
Besides, flower vases, home décor items, daily use items made of clay are also available.
Last year, there was a business of around Rs 112 lakh, whereas this year, business of more than Rs 125 lakh is expected from the sale of terracotta items in the exhibition. The timing is 2 pm to 9 pm.
The seven-day exhibition, organised by State Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department, will culminate on November 5.
