With constantly changing trends which keeping coming into style and fading away, it can be hard for one to keep up with trends and expensive on your wallet too.

We caught up with some of the best runway shows this year to curate the most fashionable style picks. Here’s a guide to the top runway trends so far for men and women in 2017.

Men’s fashion

An old school take on sportswear

In 2016, the top designers aimed for the vintage 1980’s looks for athleisure wear. In 2017, they’re turning it up a notch by taking it back into the past all the way to the 1970’s. Be the king in the court, and outside it with jumpsuits, nylon jumpers, tropical prints, quirky quotes and abstract looks, luxury fabrics with careful details is currently a hit on shelves.

Gingham is back

The checks trend is one of the most surprising comebacks in 2017. Checks in muted shades such as grey, brown, tan and black are everywhere! From bomber jackets, plaid shirts to t-shirts and and trousers.. this is the new staple. Add a statement piece to your wardrobe with bold or subte checks and leave the crowd amuse around you!

Minimal speaks volumes

Pull off the key pieces of this year’s runway by styling yourself in neutral, vibrant shades with elegance. Choose a relaxed fit and good materials that add class to your style. Saffron, bolds, dull shades – wear anything with an earthy tone and rock the minimalistic look by adding eyewear that lures anyone to take a second glance at you.

Let the prints define your style

It’s not just the sportswear that the designers have captured from the 1970’s but also the idea of prints! Head back into time with slogan tees designed with tropic prints, shorts with a touch of the retros and jeans with embellishments and prints! Opt for something poppy, graphic and colorful that speaks your style and you’re sure to be a headturner this year.

Loose cuts and defined shoulders

Show off your phisique with cuts that are fitting just at the right places. Enhanced shoulders are a hit this season. Loose cuts on coats, hoodies, trousers and jeans have made their way back into fashion. A relaxed fit is the one to choose. Oversized coats, chinos, fitting t shirts are in trend. Stay in power with comfortable styling options.

Women’s fashion

Chic sportswear and athleisure styles

Race to the fashion finish line in chic yet wearable sportswear pieces that create a statement. Leggings in bold prints and cutouts are in for the win. Nylons, statement jackets, track suits and vibrant shades are here to stay. Team up a pair of edgy leggings with a statement hoodie to win!

The blast from the past

The eighties and early nineties could be seen as an inspiration almost everywhere. Power shoulders, vintage pieces, brooches, velvet dresses, cropped jackets are just the beginning of what’s been bought back into style. Pair a velvet dress with a cropped jacket and finish the fabulous look by adding a brooch to make heads turn wherever you go.

The modern fairytale

Tulles, ruffles, detailed prints and flowy textures are bound to give you the princess charm this season. It’s raining tassels, charms applique and shimmer on the runway! Crystal laden gowns and ivory jackets are where luxury reside. Sheer materials are raising bars. Spin your own fairytale in a flowing dress with unique cuts and embroidery.

A dash of floral

With just a small touch of floral, turn any outfit adroginous and beautiful. Patches of floral designs can be placed anywhere from the shoulders, collar or sleeve ends to give your outfit a new twist. Jackets and waistcoats are currently ruling this theme. A patch of floral on your distressed jeans will take you fashionably forward. Team it with a white tee and you’re ready to make the world your runway.

Turn it up in High waisted styles

The key style this season accentuates your midriff. Dresses, palazos, wide legged pants, skirts, shorts and even saris are being created in this style to give you the perfect look. Play with your regular outfit with belts of different textures to create a new style. Empire waistlines are here. Style a high waisted skirt with a cropped top to keep it cool.
