International Hockey Federation (FIH) is about to begin the International Hockey Men’s World League Final in 2017 on December 1, and we can’t keep Calm! Because, this time Bhubaneswar, Kalinga Stadium, is hosting this much awaited and prestigious International Hockey World Cup & League Final event.

Not too long ago, during the days of March 2017 there was a positive pact signed between the President of International Hockey Federation, Narinder Batra and the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik that announced that this time Bhubaneswar will be the destination for International Hockey World Cup & League Final in both 2017 & 2018! The best part, you ask? Odisha will be the title sponsors!
So the events will be called as ‘ODISHA MEN’S HOCKEY WORLD LEAGUE FINAL BHUBANESWAR 2017’ & ‘ODISHA HOCKEY MEN’S WORLD CUP BHUBANESWAR 2018’. Whoa, now isn’t that cool?
After the galumphing success of Asian Games 2017 & Hero Hockey Champions’ Trophy 2016, looks like Bhubaneswar is on a roll! Bhubaneswar’s magnum opus, Kalinga Stadium is about to witness its second biggest life-event in the first week of December during the World Hockey League Finals 2017 after Asian Games in July while the city’s third biggest event of the year after the South Asian Youth Summit in the mid-week of September.
For all those who wanna catch-up on the current status of the countries on the World League Semi-Finals Chart, here’s the update.
Seven international teams including India, which is the host has made it to the league finals will be facing off each other during the League Finals at Kalinga Stadium from December 1 to December 10 from two pools:
Pool A: Olympic champions Argentina, European champions Netherlands, Olympic Silver winners Belgium & Spain.
Pool B: Reigning World Cup & World League champions Australia, Olympic Bronze winning teams Germany, host India & England.
We can already feel the adrenaline pumping into our veins, right? Things will turn more interesting when during the same time next year 15 international hockey teams will again land in Bhubaneswar to taste the vengeance of the World League Final in the World Cup 2018 at the same place! Vengeance generally comes sweet, but here it comes with blood, sweat and cheers!
Cheering for Team India will be an added delight to the entire event as it would be a festival of firecrackers, food & culture, but the pressure will be from Day 1 coz of the match between host India & current World Cup champions Australia will start at 7:30 in Kalinga Stadium, followed by the Day 2 match between India & England at the same time.

According to FIH and Hockey India, they would do utmost to give accreditation to as many working members of the media as possible and individuals who are successful in their application for an accreditation will receive a confirmation email. So, no cutting the line, people!
