Finally the much awaited free Wi-Fi service was launched at Khurda Road Railway Station, one of the important junctions in the State, here on Wednesday. Khordha Rd Jn is a major station in the state as aqlmost all the trains in the ECo Railways stop here.
Minister of state for Railways Manoj Sinha inaugurated free Wi-Fi facility at Khurda Road Jn station through videoconferencing from East Coast Railway (ECoR) headquarters at Bhubaneswar.
This facility will help the passengers immensely, said the railway minister.
Earlier the Railways had decided to make all its ‘A’ category stations of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) Wi-Fi enabled by end of this October. Sambalpur, Rayagada, Berhampur, Khurda Road, Cuttack, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road and Bhadrak of Odisha come under this ‘A’ category.
This project is implemented by internet major Google and government-owned agency RailTel under the ministry of railways, ECoR sources said.
